Business Intelligence Analyst

Location: Dublin, Ireland
Background

A leading Irish multinational has implemented a BI solution to collect and analyse monthly management accounting, financial and other information from approximately 40 operating entities. This information is stored in an Oracle data warehouse in addition to being transferred to a Group HFM system. Investment in the system is on-going creating an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic Business Intelligent analyst to join a small BI team headquartered in Dublin.

 

Role Objectives

The objectives of the BI Analyst are to provide support for the use of the current system and drive the expansion of its use.

The role involves five key elements:

  1. Providing support for the current application
  2. Managing and overseeing the specification and on-going development and operations of the current system and vendors
  3. Overseeing the on-going development and operations of the current system where this work is being performed by a vendor
  4. Extending the use of BI within the organisation
  5. Performing data analyses and report generation

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the existing implementation of OBIEE, ODI and Oracle data
  • Support the data collection tool used by the entities to enter data - Excel-based tool customised with VBA
  • Work with finance personnel and others to define and document new BI requirements and assist with translating business requirements into data extraction and manipulation queries
  • Assist with BI project planning and estimation
  • Implement small changes to the ODI and Excel data collection tool components
  • Perform data analyses on information in the Oracle data warehouse using OBIEE and other tools within agreed deadlines
  • Provide support to users and assist in the resolution of problems and manage the escalation of problems with vendors, especially during the monthly reporting interval
  • Work with vendors to extend the system
  • Work with other company IT support personnel to assist with resolving problems

 

Experience Required

  • Oracle BI technologies such as OBIEE, ODI and database
  • Excel and VBA
  • Good understanding of data warehouse principles and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively and constructively with internal customers and users
  • Demonstrated history of delivering and supporting BI solutions that meet business requirements
  • Good SQL skills
  • A systematic approach to problem solving with an attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal, communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work well and effectively, always projecting a constructive outlook in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment

 

Desirable

Experience in Oracle HFM and FDM
