Are your SOPs and Work Instructions perfect?

Put simply, SOPs should support an environment of “Comply or Change”.

SOPs should drive performance by documenting the standardised best way to perform tasks i.e. it should be easier to comply than take short-cuts. They should also drive effective training, provide relevant business metrics and facilitate feedback and improvement.

To do this, SOPs need to be clear, concise and easy to understand. They should be developed with user involvement. They should be owned by the process users and they should be accessible.

Too often, paper/text based SOPs don’t meet these requirements. They are riddled with errors, they are difficult to find and navigate, training is an expensive parallel activity, and feedback mechanisms are clumsy and slow. Small wonder then, that documentation errors continues to feature prominently in regulatory inspection citations.

At Torque Management, we’ve overcome the inherent problems with traditional SOPs and Work Instructions by developing a solution that delivers highly effective SOPS. Called TPSoP® and developed to provide and enrich SOPs with dynamic links to all information required to perform tasks - on-line and process based, making it easy for users to navigate and easier to comply.

Feedback is built-in, with suggestions and changes routed directly to the SOP owner or nominated party. Measures can be added to SOPs, improving control and performance visibility across end-to-end processes.

We’ve analysed traditional SOPs and compared them to SOPs developed using TPSoP® and the results are presented below for your information.

How do your existing text/paper based system rate in comparison with TPSoP®?
